There was a time when Grey's Anatomy dvd 1-7 was this show where I suffered through a lot of stuff that made me cringe to get to those genius melodrama moments Shonda and company could do so well.

It still does goofy things from time to time, but for the most part this was a year about taking the characters and their problems very seriously.

Moreover, Izzy (Katherine Heigl) had already knowingly made Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan)’s heart worse – trusting Burke to come and handle the operation.

In Grey's Anatomy season 8, there's the drama that is Owen and Cristina's relationship right now. She tries to kiss him, but he pulls away, and after she watches him with a nurse, she thinks he's cheating on her.

And the part of the episode in the new Grey's Anatomy season 8 was the witnessing of something I’d never seen before: Dr. Bailey being put in her place.  Actually, she ends up getting “dressed down” in front of the entire operating room.
