Damages is a superb drama — it’s not only wildly addictive, but top to bottom, it’s the best acted show on television.
In my point, Glen Close as Patty Hewes — the Miranda Priestley of the legal world — is deliciously narcissistic and so power hungry she borders on psychotic in Damages dvd 1-4. She has many excellent performance in the other shows, such as Katy Sagal in Sons of Anarchy.
Damages season 3 opens with Parsons trying to move on with her life as a upstanding member of the New York City District Attorney office needn’t be. After-all, Patty Hewes is to the legal profession what Dexter Morgan is to dolling out justice.
Season three, however, does keep the show’s framing conceit intact — offering us glimpses of the future before backtracking six months to show us how we got there.
In the Damages season 4 dvd finale, we learned why Keith Carradine had been hanging around on the edges of this season, as the flirty, slightly creepy architect who kept giving Close’s Patty Hewes apartment re-modeling advice.
There some cool twists--Boorman revealed as the one who killed the team, and the boy being Boorman's son--but nothing as extreme as in previous seasons.
As long as they keep brilliant character actors in the show, and as long as Patty Hewes remains her mysteries, I’m in for the damages dvd box set. What about you?
